Campaign for Food, Land, Climate Justice

75 years since Nakba, 75 years of resistance: No matter what, the Palestinian people shall return!

On May 15, Day of Return, we mark 75 years of the Palestinian struggle to reclaim their land against the US-backed Zionist regime of Israel. Throughout the years, the People’s Coalition on Food Sovereignty has consistently expressed its support and admiration for the militancy of the Palestinian people in the face of the occupation.

Injustice prevails not just in holding US-Israel accountable for their countless violations of human rights and international law in this ongoing Nakba, but also in the current actions and proposals to end the conflict. Truces, let alone the two-state solution, are not enough to address the roots of the Palestinian struggle – Israel’s persistent greed to colonize lands and acquire more power.

Historical oppression warrants reparations. The first decisive step is to penalize Israel for its war crimes, such as the recent bombings of Palestinian territories that numerous reports deem as among the worsts in decades. Else, more political prisoners like Khadeer Adnan will die in prison and more farmers like Mohammed Abu Ta’miya will be killed. To date, there are 4,900 Palestinians held captive in Israeli prisons and 15,000 Palestinians martyred in the struggle.

from The Global Campaign to Return to Palestine

The United Nation’s first commemoration of the Nakba Day, the condemnations issued by its officials including Secretary-General António Guterres, and the urge for Israel to comply with international law are welcome developments but still fall short – grievously short – in delivering justice. The UN as well as the International Criminal Court should not only hold Israel into account, but also the US for being its imperialist sponsor.

Because the only guarantee for a just and peaceful return of the Palestinian people is the total freedom of Palestine from the Zionist occupation. The Nakba is not just a thing of the past; it is Israel’s continuing pursuit of erasing Palestine’s sovereignty and national identity. But as proven by history, it is inevitable that the Palestinian resistance will continue until their return, and PCFS will be with them until their victory.

Let us forge solidarity with the Palestinians and the people of the Global South against imperialist-backed attacks, including proxy wars and occupations. 75 years of injustice is too long. Palestine will be freed, and the Palestinians shall return!

Justice for Khader Adnan, Mohammad Abu Ta’miya, and every Palestinian killed by the Zionist occupation!

Hold US-Israel accountable for their HRVs and war crimes!

Free Palestine!
